Another brief anecdote about my son...a few days ago we had a lot of snow in a short time in Calgary. Driving to work in the morning was treacherous - no snow days here. When it was time to go home I saw a teacher walking away from the parking lot. I stopped my car and asked her where she was going. She said that she was walking to the train station because she doesn't drive when it snows so much because her car gets stuck in the snow. So, I offered to drive her and she was grateful. It took me a few minutes out of my way but I probably saved her a good 20 minutes and the risk of slipping on the ice. After I dropped her off, my son, who was playing with his DS in the back, quietly said, "That was nice." I said, "what was nice?" His response: "What you just did. That was nice."
You think they're not listening or noticing but they are. Our actions DO speak louder than words.

I totally agree Elisa. We can rant all we want about what values we want our children to have, but if we don't live them, they won't listen to what we have to say.
A child can spot a hypocrite a mile away.
Roses are red, violets are blue, do as I say and do as I do and the best in the world will come to you.
This is such a good reminder. Our kids do watch what we do and say and how we handle things.
Thanks for sharing! You are so right. They do listen and they do watch. We impact children and they impact us. Keep on keeping on!
